During the day I teach math and reading to 112 wonderful 7th grade students. Most of my kids live in a high poverty environment. Some have to worry about where they are going to stay at night, and how they are going to eat, which makes teaching math and reading a challenge. By creating math labs that make learning fun and engaging, I try to give them a chance to see the math they are learning applied in real world scenarios. In reading, my goal is to put books in their hands that they want to read and are interested in. For kids who are worried about home life, reading provides them a chance to escape into another world, even if temporary. By creating labs and having books to read, education becomes more meaningful and your assistance helps make that happen.
