The students in my classroom all have developmental challenges, or special needs. They work their hardest every day to meet a variety of goals including academic goals, self-help skills, daily living skills, and appropriate social skills. My students require support with speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and developmental support. These children are just like typically developing students in many ways. They love to make friends, be included in large and small group activities with peers, celebrate their accomplishments, and be loved and respected by the adults and peers who believe in them every day. Children with special needs require many adaptive and specialized materials in order to help them to be successful learners and productive members of their world. As their teacher, I am passionate about supporting them in their ability to be successful.

About my class
