As part of my parent survey that I send home at the beginning of the school year, almost all of my students' parents report that their child learns best visually. This is especially true for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as many of them require the visual supports to understand and use language to communicate more effectively. The material list I have curated will serve the purpose of helping the students learn and retain information better by providing another avenue of language processing other than auditory. Beyond worksheets, I've found that students learn best with visual supports and manipulatives that are tangible and interactive. The materials I've chosen from Lakeshore Learning allow students to maximize their learning so that they can retain the information, which in turn will allow them to apply what they've learned. The books and fun manipulatives will help students learn new vocabulary, answer/ask questions and so much more while making learning fun and functional.
