I have recently purchased a writing unit that uses familiar childrens books to teach the different styles of writing to fifth graders. We will use books like: The Best Story, The Sandwich Swap and Bedhead to dig in and discover Narrative writing. We will use Zoo Story, Crocodiles and Alligators, and Spiders to learn all about information writing. Lastly, we will use books like I Wanna Iguana, Red is Best and Animals Nobody Loves to work on our Opinion writing. Having these books in class will allow students to use them during our writing unit daily! Some books are not in our library and are such an essential piece of these units! Please help us meet our goal!
