I am in a Title 1 school which is currently in the process of rebuilding from a previous status in failure to strengthen to a better school. Chess is a thinking game, players must be able to think outside of the box and be able to outsmart, out think and outmaneuver your opponent. These things are critical thinking skills and critical thinking skills are what will help students to grow, be successful, and move forward. Chess is one way to help teach this. Think of all of the notable accounts where chess changed students, changed schools, and change lives. True stories in movies such as " The Queen of Katwe" "Brooklyn Castle", "Life of a King" and "Fresh" Each of these movies are true or based on a true story, and all ar involving children from impoverished environments who found success, in Chess, and then found more success in life. I want that for my scholars.
