Two of my math colleagues and I are creating an interdisciplinary course for our students. A course that will have students actively participating, even co-creating curriculum, in social justice through the lenses of Mathematics and English Language Arts. We want to start with the text RACE TO INCARCERATE a graphic retelling by Marc Mauer and Sabrina Jones. We are requesting student copies of the book. RACE TO INCARCERATE is a text that everyone should have the opportunity to interact with. Students will be critically thinking, reading, discussing, and writing about mass incarceration and its impacts on our community--local and global. This text will be the jumping off point for the course!
