Our students are from varied cultural backgrounds, in a Title 1 school where more than half the students receive free or reduced lunch. The students in my class are learning English as a second language and would benefit from multiple models of written and spoken English. They need more spoken English models from storytellers within classic reading titles to create a varied classroom environment where students can be engaged using different modalities, not just visual and written models.
