This project will help stock my math classroom with middle school-appropriate items. Since this is my first year of teaching, my classroom is lacking manipulatives and STEM materials to helps my student to ignite their interest in STEM and make connections to classroom learning. Manipulatives enhance the way many students learn and having them available during class is very important and STEM helps children build resilience, creativity, knowledge application, and problem-solving skills. By learning STEM in real-world settings, students will be encouraged in the possibilities of exciting STEM careers. Due the the current pandemic, there were some students that have fallen behind. Engaging student's learning with manipulatives not only makes math more fun, manipulatives also help to equip my students with a better understanding of our math lesson, helping them learn how to visualize different types of problems and hopefully helping them acquire the skills they need to move forward. My project would also provide the supplies needed to create a STEM based outlet where they can learn through structured play. They can be incorporated into my math stations for a hands-on learning experience. The STEM materials and activities mostly deal with science, engineering, and algebraic thinking to understand scientific and mathematical concepts.
