The students who work in this room have been identified as having disabilities. The types of disabilities vary, but our students need specialized teaching in a small group or one-on-one setting to be able to keep up with their peers. I need a large bag of tricks to help my students meet their learning goals. I have to engage them when they are used to tuning out teachers and avoiding activities that may make them feel stupid or embarassed in front of their peers. We have to find ways to reach them without making them feel that they are less capable then others. I feel technology is the key to achieving my goals. Technology is inherently engaging for my students and would give them the message that our classroom and they are valued.
