Imagination is such a powerful tool in education but also in life. I want to give my students every opportunity to cultivate this skill. Reading will help them reach their potential and unleash the possibilities. Books help our students become better readers, cope with difficult situations, and make sense of the world around them. Many of our students resist reading because it is "boring" or "too much work". For these students, I want to introduce them to high interest novels that grab their attention and get them hooked on books. Other students use reading as a tool to cope with a difficult family life or a troubled past. For these students, I want to provide them with a safe place to help them cope with anything life throws at them. There are so many reasons that books and the love of reading are vital to all kids, big or small. Whatever the reason, I want my students to become life long readers who value the ability and the experience. I want to show kids that reading can be the key that unlocks their imagination as well as their potential.
