Do you remember being a sixth grader? Eleven year old children are constantly on the go. It's unrealistic for us to assume all kids can sit quietly in a chair for an extended length of time. Flexible seating in a classroom allows students choice, comfort, community, and collaboration. Currently, my students only have the choice of sitting at a table in a chair or sitting on the floor with a clipboard. Giving them a variety of options would be empowering for them. Wobble chairs will give kids the opportunity to wiggle during direct instruction. Bean bag chairs, butterfly chairs, and stools will give them a chance to be comfortable during silent reading or when they are collaborating with a partner/small group. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to accommodate their different needs.
