This project would fund one class set of headlamps and batteries for scholars to share on our fifth-grade team of 50 students. This project would allow me to transform my classroom into a campground one day where students would read in their tents using their headlamps. Another day we could be explorers using our headlamps to read maps. I also want to share my love of hiking and take my scholars on some hikes that would require us to use our headlamps. Research supports mixing novelty with instruction to engage students which activates their brains. Our scholars attend 20 more days of school than most students, my goal as their teacher is to make all 200 days memorable. Having students read and complete assignments with headlamps will accomplish my goal of adding novelty to their day.
