Our literacy block is our most important time of day in our classroom. We would use the rug to gather to start our day and throughout the day for mini lessons, and a place to gather at the end of the day to discuss how the day went. The book boxes would be used to hold our "just right" books so that the students could have them close by to read at a moment's notice. I have some voracious readers, and being able to keep their books in a book box of their own would make Literacy Centers even more special to them.
