I am seeking to get a class set of book bins. I would like every student in my classroom to have their own individual book bin. Their book bin will be used as a toolbox where they will store books at their independent level. I am starting off the year implementing a balanced literacy approach. One of the components is for students to read independently. My students will be able to read independently by selecting books from their own book bin. The common core standards are asking our 5 years olds to leave kindergarten reading and comprehending level D books. We are asking our kinders to do a lot, this is doable. By utilizing their book bins daily they will be able to reach their end of the year goal. By having individual book bins my students will be eager to read daily and gain a sense of ownership and responsibility for their belongings.
I am looking forward to seeing my students grow as readers.
