My students will travel around centers during "choice time" participating in integrated, hands-on learning. The choice centers will be student-driven as well as based upon the themes of our reading curriculum. My kindergarteners will develop social-emotional skills and learn real-world skills while traveling to different choice centers throughout the day. Students will derive a plan and execute the plan in the center. For example, when learning about maps in our community, students will draw a map and then build the map using the blocks. Some students may be drawing signs that they see in their community. Others may be using their imagination to act out with cars and toys different roles in our community like police officers and firefighters.
