My classroom is filled with energetic fourth graders who are excited about learning. Flexible seating is a great way to allow students to have a choice in their classroom environment. Having a comfortable seat benefits the way students can focus on their class assignments. Unfortunately, our classrooms look the same way they did 50 years ago. Even as adults, we wouldn't force ourselves to sit in hard plastic chairs for many hours, so why should our students? Flexible seating can change the way students focus and participate in the classroom. The items I am requesting will give students the choice to sit in more comfortable and engaging areas. I am requesting stools that allow the students to rock back and forth as they work. Research has proven that these stools help improve a student's ability to focus, specifically for students who fidget or are ADHD. I have also requested balance balls and wobble cushions for student seating in the classroom. With these seating choices, my students will be able to pick their best learning spot and focus on the instruction and assignments. By donating you will help improve the learning environment in our classroom.
