Many of my students come from homes that are not able to provide the basic necessities. Free breakfasts, lunches, and "backpack club" on Fridays (which sends home food with students for the weekend) are common. As pretty new teacher, my goal for my project is to create a classroom setting that is inviting and organized. The book boxes that I have placed on my wish list will allow each student to have their very own box to store their books to use during Independent Reading time. The stools on my wish list will be used at our guided reading and math table. Their bright colors and the fun of sitting on a stool instead of in a chair, will make guided time an exciting and fun time! Students LOVE using white boards. They are so much more fun than paper and pencil and allow for a variety of uses. Some of the items on my wish list will not be used directly by my students, but will help create an organized classroom. The students in my classroom crave organization, as their personal lives can be chaotic. The literature organizer will be used for their classroom mailboxes. It will allow students completed work and school mail to be quickly sorted. A good pencil sharpener is a must in every classroom and will be used everyday! By providing the funds to purchase the materials on my wish list, I will be able to take my limited personal funds and purchase basic necessities needed by my students but that their families are unable to provide, such as crayons, pencils, notebooks, and scissors. Thank you so much in advance for any assistance you can provide to my project. My class and myself will greatly appreciate it!
