During this project, students will be learning about the different states of matter and how they can change the environment. We will collect data on brightly colored paper that will get the attention of the whole school. After, we will preserve our projects by laminating them and displaying them around the school and classroom. Hands on projects are the heart of learning in science. It can be difficult for students to learn about these things without experiencing them first hand. By using this States of Matter kit, students will be able to explore, learn, and explain how these scientific matters change our earth on a daily basis. The classroom is the perfect place to stress the importance of recycling paper. This project will allow me to teach students about the loss of trees in our environment and how not recycling affects each of them, their family members and our entire planet. By encouraging students to recycle, there is a greater chance that they each will grow into adults who continue to recycle. With the laminating machine and pouches we will be able to laminate regularly used handouts, this will be ideal in learning how and why we should recycle. Throughout the school year, there are many activities students participate in consistently, to stress the importance of a skill. Some examples would be handwriting practice activities, story elements charts, and many other graphic organizers. With this in mind, by laminating these sheets, many packs of paper could be saved, which will reinforce our recycling mission.
