We are going to be bringing in Science and STEAM/STEM into our small public school and our great preschool is lucky enough to be included! Last year we were able to try some simple bridge building where I gave the students a situation/problem and they had to discuss as a group of 3 how to get across the bridge, then draw out their bridge, followed by constructing it. Later in the day, our Principal came down and each group took a few minutes to explain their design and reasons for why they did things a certain way. This year I would like to blow the minds of my parents and the kids with some new lessons. The inside me doll will take a fun kid friendly approach to showing the kids what their 'insides' look like. My own personal kids love to look up close at bugs they catch and always seem to comment on the bugs eyes, so why not let my students (and myself) see what it is like to see the world with a bugs eye view. Ladybugs are so much fun and the kids love to catch them when we are outside so the ladybug land would allow us to have some in our room to observe! Last year we did our sense of smell and I found different smells but this would take that to a new level! The kids loved smelling and looking around the room to try and place the smell with something they are familiar with!! I can not wait to start teaching the kids things that most preschool students are not able to experience until they are in grade school! Thank you for being a part of this!
