I believe incorporating the Echo Dot, financial board games, and the organizer for cell phones will be beneficial to my students. The Echo Dot will be helpful to the students and me as my "teacher assistant" in several ways. For example, Alexa can utilize the Echo buttons as student response clickers, play music or ambient noises, read recent news, give a 30-second money tip, and translate languages (which is great for English Language Learners). Alexa will only respond to one voice. Therefore, it will not be a disruption to the learning environment. The students will be engaged in the learning process and learn relevant financial lessons as they play board games. In Dave Ramsey's Act Your Wage game, the students will earn salaries, pay bills, save money, and pay off debt. The Payday game will teach students how to budget and manage one's money while handling unexpected expenses, loan payments, and other financial situations. The Game of Life will reinforce several learning standards, such as the effect of education and career choices on income, the cost of loans, and the importance of investing at an early age. Lastly, Monopoly will teach students about managing financial transactions, dealing with financial issues, and balancing cash flow as they earn income (by passing Go and collecting rent), and making decisions about saving or investing money. Also, the cell phone station will ensuring the students are not distracted by their personal devices during tests and other specified times. Technology violations can disrupt student learning, and the station will eliminate these issues from occurring.
