We use manipulatives on a daily basis in our classroom. They are a useful tool for problem solving. The math manipulatives will be used to enhance the lessons on fractions, place value, money, addition, and subtraction. These manipulatives come in individual packets. This will save time on distributing the items. It also allows for easy storage in the students' math boxes so they can easily access them any time they are needed. The reading letter tiles will be used with their word work activities to increase word recognition and reading fluency. The comprehension activities will be used for early finishers to reinforce comprehension skills.
Learning loss due to the pandemic is a huge concern when addressing the needs of my students, manipulatives are an effective tool to help bridge the gap. Not only do they make learning more enjoyable but they help build self confidence by giving the students away to test their reasoning. They serve as concrete models of abstract ideas.
As we face the impacts of the interrupted learning caused by Covid-19, we need to find ways to keep our students motivated. Along with the educational concerns of our students, as educators we need to be aware of their emotional and mental well-being. This donation can help alleviate some of those pressures by making learning fun and helping to create a desire to learn.
