My 8th grade students will spend first quarter on water availability and water quality. Since we are only in our third year, we are still building our resources and supplies from nothing. This is becoming increasingly difficult with funding from the state and county on the decline. I want to bring what can be boring material, to life by showing my students the real world application of what they are learning. The book, A Long Walk to Water, is based on a true story. The water quality kit will allow students to actually conduct water quality tests - comparing their homes, school and community. Without these supplies, my students will be restricted to online simulations that don't always meet their needs.
