Right now picture an amazing science lab with tables, chairs and sinks but no lab equipment. This is a S.T.E.M. class where students participate in hands on labs and get to use their creativity. The supplies listed would go a long way in making this class 100 times better for them. It will provide them with the supplies to actually be able to conduct these experiments. I already know how I can use these supplies in everyday lesson for my students! Some examples of how this equipment will be used everyday: 1. Goggles: to protect the students eyes while they are testing properties of rocks and minerals, making chemical reactions, and shooting off baking soda pop rockets. 2. Triple Beam Balance, Digital Scale, and Spring Scale: Students will use this to find the mass of objects before and after reactions, to observe what the conservation of matter is using cookies, and learning how to read and record mass for certain objects. 3. Yardstick, Tape Measure, Measuring Wheel and Rulers: Students will use these materials to learn how to measure width, height, and length of objects, they will use them to record how far their ramps allow their cars to travel, to record the distance of their rockets, and the dimensions of the projects they will be building, like houses that must survive an earthquake. 4. Stopwatch: Students will use these to record time to help them determine speed or keep time during an investigation. 5. Graduated Cylinders, Measuring Cups, Funnels and Measuring Spoons: These will be used for students to measure out liquids to conduct experiments like elephant toothpaste and acids and bases. 6. Digital Microscope: This will be used for demos for students to see more detail on specific items.
