Having a classroom set of calculators will ensure we can continue to maximize our learning. 8th grade science curriculum states that the students are learning about physics, which means a great deal of math. Moreover, we are transitioning to include more STEM activities in the classroom, and you can't have STEM without the M for Mathematics! Engineering includes taking measurements and calculating for various scenarios. Having calculators readily available to the students in my classroom means a wider variety of learning can take place in the classroom, without having to borrow from other teachers who need their calculators just as much.
