Special Education is so close to my heart. I love watching my students learn, grow and make friends at school. My students are a vibrant part of our diverse student body. The children are in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade and all have a diagnosis of severe autism. Some of my students are also English language learners who have difficulties with communication. These students require highly-visual and varied approaches in teaching over longer periods of time compared to their typical peers. Challenges, such social communication and interaction require more practice opportunities.
