A STEM/STEAM activity is an activity using Science, Technology, Engineering (Art) and Math. These activities give students the chance to work in groups or individually to plan, create, problem solve and play. The power of cross disciplinary learning gives students freedom to look at things differently and the time to try their ideas and reflect on them. I want to equip my students with the ability to think beyond the books and electronics with daily opportunities to get their hands on meaningful STEM/STEAM activities. With the supplies desired, STEM/STEAM bins will be created. These bins will serve daily for early finishers, station time and whole group activities. I have purchased many prompting cards, reflections sheets and lesson plans to match the supplies requested. Each bin will have supplies inside, those supplies will be used by the children to create items on task cards. Supplies include: Legos, magnetic blocks, Velcro popsicle sticks, playdough and tooth picks, cups and tape, etc. Each task card will have a challenge, students or group of students must design, create and reflect on their creation. The kids will have access to the bins, task cards and reflection sheets each day. Monthly task cards will be used to encourage kids to make fun monthly items! I appreciate any donation to my cause for my sweet first grade friends.
