Scholastic Scope magazines offer students the chance to explore the world in nonfiction and fiction stories. Their website offers videos from authors such as Lauren Tarshis who wrote the I Survived series. Other videos offer in-depth visual information that relate to the stories students are reading. Reading comprehension and learning how to author incredible essays occur through a variety of online and physical activities. Students practice finding main ideas, supporting details, themes of stories, author's point of view, figurative language, text structures, language skills, as well as how to write the best argument and research essays. Students also read and see examples of narrative stories from which they can begin authoring their own fun narratives.
