I have an economically diverse fourth Grade class in California. Many get free/reduced lunch. We have a fantastic school with many programs, but we're always trying to close the gap at school to help them succeed. We are in our 2nd year of program improvement. We find that their experiences and vocabulary is impeding them from comprehending many texts. I have a sweet group of fourth graders who have a desire to learn and their families who want the same.
