We are a public school in Montebello, CA in a culturally rich community. Our teachers are hard working and do the best with what they have. 92% of the students qualify for free lunches and most are English Learners. I teach a Special Education class made up of 6th through 8th grade students who have disabilities that make it hard for them to be as successful as their general education peers in a larger group setting. Many of my students have to overcome issues related to poverty and receive weekly counseling. My classroom is a safe space for my students where we have routine daily schedules. The students feel respected and understand the importance of learning. Our goal is to help them learn to their best potential and be successful in life.
