When most people think of a classroom, they think of a class where the the teacher is standing in front of the room teaching and students are sitting quietly in their desks in rows. Well, that is an old-school classroom. If you walk into classrooms today, instruction is student centered, and students are working in collaborative groups to solve problems and figure things out. Classrooms are loud and lively, and teachers are facilitating within the classroom. Another fun fact about 21st century learners is they do not like to sit in traditional seating. They like flexible seating, which gives them an option of what they sit on. Some students prefer to sit in chairs while others may be sitting on beanbags, crate seats, stools, yoga balls, or even on the floor. Wobble chairs will allow my students to choose another option for flexible seating. Research has shown that when students are comfortable, they can learn better. I love the idea of flexible seating because it allows students to make a choice of where they sit. I want for my students to have the best education possible!
