The world we live in now is so technology driven that we are constantly doing more than one thing at a given time. Students of the past have been asked to sit still and quiet while completing their classwork. To some children, this task is impossible. This leads to students being disruptive and getting in trouble. The idea of sitting completely still takes all of a busy child's concentration, therefore they are unable to focus on the work or lesson in front of them. I would like to embrace a child's constant need to move around and complete multiple tasks at the same time. By allowing students to sit in flexible seating that encourages movement, I will be allowing them to move around and focus their attention only on the required task at hand. Busy bands let the students bounce their feet up and down while working and not making noise. Wobble seats and ball chairs let the student wiggle and bounce with small movements while working in order to keep their focus on their work. These flexible seating options will allow students to choose which tool would work best for them in order to help the student stay on task.
