My students come from a public school in California. We are a Title I school, and every student in our school is eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school borders two opposing gang territories, however, without fail our students walk to school every day and come to school eager to learn and thirsty for knowledge regardless of the adversities that they face just getting to school. Nothing is more beautiful than knowing that a child wants to learn and is eager for knowledge in spite of challenges they may face, poverty, or just plain hunger.
