The goal of our program is to have students graduate equally bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish. Right now, we don't have enough Spanish books for kids to take home and read independently, and this negatively affects how much they can grow as Spanish readers. However, there are plenty of English books for kids to take home. This sends the message to students that reading in English is more important. This project will help me have enough books of interest to engage middle school students in reading in Spanish at home and building strong readers who enjoy books in both languages in their free time.

About my class
