The materials I have identified on my list will help make parents and students feel more safe and comfortable in my classroom. Students know that they need to wash their hands, but they don’t know that there is a correct way of doing this. The handwashing posters will be placed behind the sinks in my classroom and our science lab to help teach students the proper way to wash their hands to maintain proper hygiene. Our school is requiring that students bring face masks to school this year, but since this is not a normal school supply there will be students who will forget to bring their masks or theirs may become contaminated throughout the school day. The disposable face masks will ensure that all students have the proper PPE needed to be at school so that they can continue to learn. The lanyards will be used by the students to attach their face masks so that they do not lose them during the day since this is not an item they are used to having to track throughout the day. The touch free hand sanitizers will provide proper sanitizing stations within the classroom while also reducing cross contamination from one student to another. By donating to my project you will be helping my students feel more comfortable and safe within our classroom. When students feel safe it frees their minds to learn. While students who are worried about their health and safety are too preoccupied to process new information which means they are being deprived of many amazing learning opportunities. By providing them with equipment and materials that will help them stay safe and healthy means my students will be able to focus their attention on the content being taught and ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
