These books will help my native Spanish speakers feel inspired to read in Spanish while also continuing their English language education. Our 7th graders love reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid and by having these books available to them in Spanish and English, it will hopefully encourage them to develop their literacy skills in both languages. Most of my students come to the U.S. on asylum visas from countries in South and Central America that are struggling with war or poverty. It is my hope that these students can still continue to build their Spanish skills while also learning English. I would love to help my students become both bilingual and biliterate and see the world with two fresh perspectives.
