I have been a teacher for over 22 years and this is my second year working in a district that lacks funding for classroom materials/supplies. We also are given no classroom budget to buy pencils, notebook paper or novels for students to read. I spend much of my own money on these kids because they just don't come from families that can afford to buy school supplies. 83% of my students are below the 8th grade reading level and we are in desperate need of books for next semester. I want to read a novel that students will enjoy instead of a textbook or random stories. It is important for them to be able to have the same opportunities as other students. They deserve that, even though they are low income. Please donate to my classroom so I can buy kleenexes, hand sanitizer, pencils, paper, books and more. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
