At the age of 5 and 6 years old, one of the best ways for students to learn is by experience and play! Having a centers based classroom engages students in learning by giving more options than using paper and pencil at a table or desk. What better way for students to learn than with each other?! When students work in groups they can discuss problems with each other, find solutions, and build more than just their academic skills! Students will have the opportunity to move around the room, use a variety of writing utensils like dry erase markers with the new "Write and Wipe Alphabet Practice Cards", build muscles in their hands to foster good handwriting techniques with the "Ready to Write Gumball Grab", and build social skills while working with their peers! I'm requesting an alphabet mystery box and alphabet learning locks to make learning letter recognition and sounds more engaging and hands on! The ten frame activity carpet, count and link, and unlock it number match will be added to our math centers to reinforce one to one counting all the way to 20 and number recognition! Many of my students this year are above grade level and I need to find ways to challenge their minds more and more! The hands-on number grid and count to 120 magnetic number chart will help to enrich their math skills beyond the current expectations by allowing them to explore numbers and patterns all the way to 120! In kindergarten, learning by playing is a huge part of our day! One goal I have is to offer sensory centers throughout the day to allow students to experiment and explore with their hands and minds. Kinetic sand and water droppers will allow for more science based activities to be available!
