All of my students express the same question from kindergarten to 5th grade - "When do we get to learn to play instruments?" I follow the standard curriculum that involves Orff instruments, non-pitched percussion, and recorder, but I know that I can teach my students more! For this reason I have redesigned my curriculum to include guitars and ukuleles. I want my students to become lifelong music makers. I know that I can reach more of them through more easily accessible instruments, not just recorders. We will also supply students with binders full of music. Students will learn to implement their new skills and find a love for music that will last!
