We live in a rural community where children don't have as many advantages as other students their age. They have not been exposed to daycare and other learning situations. Our Pre-K program is their first exposure towards education and we work hard to make it meaningful to them. Our school is a small Pre-K through 12th grade school with approximately 210 students. The budget cuts to Education a couple of years ago have really taken a toll on our small school. Our administrators are wonderful and will purchase what we need as best as they can. However, teaching Pre-K can be challenging if you do not have enough games or manipulatives to change out. After a few weeks of playing with games and manipulatives the children loose interest. The children learn best when we can switch out the center games and manipulatives frequently so that they are getting the most out of their learning environment.
