Hodge Road Elementary is a unique elementary school in a district where supplies are abundant. However, that is not apparent at our school. With over 80% of students receiving free and reduced lunch, our school has several areas of need. One of these areas is in English Language Arts. Many of our parents struggle to help our students read, mainly because English isn't their primary language and are unable to read in English themselves. Our school has an environment where the students (and parents!) have a strong desire to learn and are just looking for the teacher who is willing take them to where they need to be. Many of our students live in poverty and aren't able to have high interest materials to read. Therefore, completing assignments is a daily struggle.
