My students are very inquisitive and eager to improve their reading skills. They are a mix of 7th-8th graders who are the lowest students, in regards to reading levels, in the entire school. They attend a Title I school and the majority of my students do not have reading materials available to them outside of my classroom. The make-up of my students included general education, ELL, and students with specific learning disabilities. Most of my students will not engage in reading for the fun of it outside of my classroom due to many external factors, some out of their control. Students are provided free time to read books of their choice daily and would love to read high interest books at a level they could comprehend. Students need to enjoy what they are reading.
