I am the teacher of a wonderful group of six students who are Autistic. They attend a special needs school for Autistic children. They are happy and energetic and require centers in their classroom so that they can get the most out of their daily school days. Currently my classroom supplies are very low. The students require a sensory diet and the classroom curriculum must address assisted daily living skills (ADL's). Typically autistic children do not use "free time" appropriately and require a strict structure to keep them on task. Teaching students with autism how to be independent is extremely important to their well being. By combining centers in the classroom and a strict schedule these students can learn to navigate the classroom independently.
