In my class we don't say, "I can't" we say, "but what if I can?" My students are my inspiration. I teach 5 classes, 5 days a week on a 10 week/quarter rotation. My students range from kindergarten through 8th grade. I teach at a Title 1 school, so my students often do not have outside access to the same materials as their more wealthy district counterparts. To best serve my students, all of my lesson plans are not only aligned to national visual arts standards, but they are also aligned to social emotional learning standards, especially those identified by Chicago Public Schools as priority standards. My students learn to hold themselves accountable, view the world through a creative lens, engage in critical inquiry discussions and build self confidence. I am honored to be able to guide such wonderful artists.
