Picture books aren't just for little kids anymore! Many of my students have struggled with reading and writing for years but when we read together, that all fades away. I will use these books to keep students interested while also applying the skills we learn throughout the year to a book that is interesting and exciting for them. My students love to learn through an interactive read aloud with higher level picture books. These mentor texts will allow me to inspire my students to love reading through so many wonderful stories such as "Each Kindness," "Malala's Magic Pencil," and "Train to Somewhere". My student's become entranced when I read them a story. They love to learn about different cultural backgrounds, social skills, jobs, and the world around us. These books will allow them to become even more engaged in learning within my classroom. I can't wait to share these stories with my students!
