Studies show using flexible seating such as a yoga ball or wobble chairs help students sit and focus longer. There appears to be a link between stability balls and higher academic achievement and/or decreased disruptive behaviors. I want my learning support classroom to have additional seating options so my students can become more successful in the classroom. Even if flexible seating options help half of my students become more in control over themselves, that would be amazing. Students can have very little say over how their day looks. Not only would this give my students a sense of control over their environment, they will start to identify what strategies work best for their individual learning needs.
