From communicating and collaborating with AP Biology teachers all over the nation, it has become clear to me that liquid chalk markers are a staple in any AP Biology instructor's toolkit. Whether it's drawing out the light reactions and the Calvin cycle for photosynthesis, or diagramming how genes are organized into DNA, then histones, then nucleosomes, to chromatin and chromosomes, students have always found it not only a fun activity, but one that will actually help them process complicated processes and diagrams. The liquid chalk nature of the product ensures that students can erase and redo portions of their drawings as needed whenever errors or adjustments are made. The variety of colors allows for increased processing through color coding, and the desks and lab counters allows for a larger space for students to work with, especially in groups.
