I strive to create a calm and nurturing environment, allowing students opportunities to thrive through collaboration, culturally relevant and engaging activities based on student interest, positive reinforcement, and the belief that students should have ownership of their classroom climate. My students are insightful learners, with a penchant for movement and having opportunities to express their independence. Our classroom environment is rooted in a "family feel," where mutual respect and kindness is modeled and reinforced. My aim is to ensure that each child understands their uniqueness and worth, and that they are prepared to enact a positive change on the world once they leave my classroom.
