The learning styles and response modes for my students varies. There are technology programs we use to assess learning and to practice different concepts. This is not always beneficial for those students that have difficulty with using technology because of motor concerns. Hands-on items are less daunting and are more engaging to students if there is more movement involved. This allows for more active engagement during the teaching of a concept and allows for an informal assessment of their understanding when there is independent practice. My students will use these materials that may be cut apart, for those that need it, for gluing, some my be laminated for using velcro or for using dry erase markers to give responses to reading questions or create mathematical sentences (1+1=2). For my students with more significant delays along the Autism spectrum, digital tasks may be used (apps) on an iPad for digital learning.
