Envision if you will a classroom where the students are engaged in a variety of tasks. A few students are reading books on cushioned seats, some are sitting at computers completing research, students are working on a clipboard or iPads in groups or independently, not at desks but standing at a table, lounging on bean bags, sitting in small groups pondering how to solve the latest problem. My goal is to provide a classroom with spaces designed for active and engaged learning, that models 21st-century real-world work environments such as Google workplace. Flexible seating would allow my students to easily work in partners or small groups. Flexible seating will also give them some decision making abilities within the classroom. Lastly, it will foster a sense of community as the students work to achieve their goals.
