Our school's neighborhood has changed tremendously in the last ten years, and we have a much larger population of lower income families whose children attend our school. These families are unable to provide the extra time and resources their children need to become successful readers. They are unable to provide their child with engaging books to read at home. They work long hours and are unable to take their children to the library. Many families do not have the time to read with their kids each night. Therefore, it is up to the school to provide the necessary resources the children need outside of school to become successful readers.

About my class
